Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand feels that the experience that new manager Mark Hughes has will keep his side up this season, according to the Independent.
Saints sacked Mauricio Pellegrino last week and appointed Hughes on Wednesday evening with the club in a serious relegation battle.
He started with a comfortable 2-0 win at Wigan in the FA Cup yesterday as he guided Southampton to their first FA Cup semi-final since 2003.

Hughes straight away changed the formation, electing to play two strikers up top and allowing the full-backs to get even further forward than they had done under the previous manager.
The Saints boss knows that his side have found it difficult to find the back of the net this season, scoring just 29 goals in the Premier League, and he plans to change this in the coming weeks.
Saints full-back Bertrand feels Hughes has enough to keep his side up:
My initial impressions have been very good. I’m looking forward to playing the remainder of the season with him. He’s been there and done it. Even as a player, he’s vastly experienced as well and whatever he can share with us, we hope we can use and do what we need to do.
He continued and went on to add:
We’ve just been working on the basics. Just refining the basics and upping our levels, our intensity and our attitude towards the game. For us, it’s about just getting a win and taking confidence from that. We can take progressing in the competition into the league.
