Southampton Football Club confirmed Mark Hughes as their new first team manager last night following the sacking of Mauricio Pellegrino.
The 54-year-old has a signed a contract until the end of the season in the hope that he can keep the side in the division with just eight matches remaining.
Saints are only one point off the bottom three and will hope that Hughes can inspire them to survival this season.
Hughes will look to hit the ground running for the club, first facing a trip to Wigan in the FA Cup on Sunday lunchtime before facing a crucial match against West Ham United in a couple of weeks’ time.
