Southampton Football Club have confirmed that they have appointed Mark Hughes as their new manager.
Hughes has signed a deal until the end of the season.
This comes after Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked following a run of just one win in 17 games in the Premier League which included a 3-0 loss at Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
Hughes becomes the club’s fourth manager in two year following Ronald Koeman, Claude Puel and Pellegrino in what has been a hectic couple of years at the club.
The former Stoke City manager joins the club after being sacked earlier in the season.

The Saints currently lie 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone. They face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup this weekend in Hughes’ first game.
Hughes played at Southampton in his earlier days, appearing 61 times across two seasons in a successful spell for Hughes.
The Saints face eight more Premier League games in the hope that they can retain their league status after a six-year spell in the top flight and Hughes will look to make a direct impact at St Mary’s.
