Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has once again reiterated that he is happy at the club.
The former Barcelona youngster spoke exclusively to Spanish news outlet Marca and confirmed that he remains happy at Southampton despite the club’s recent struggles.
Yes, this is my goal. To be able to play regularly, have minutes and enjoy playing. Luckily, I have been able to do it regularly. That makes me feel physically well and I enjoy myself. I’m happy and at ease. Now it’s a matter of helping the team to get out of here (the relegation zone). I want to play, not be at a Barça or a Chelsea in the background.
Romeu is an important player for Southampton. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season and is a mainstay in the side under Mauricio Pellegrino.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career to date last term under Claude Puel but has tailed off under Pellegrino this season.

Romeu is clearly content, though, and is well settled in his life on the south coast. He was linked with a move to Barcelona last summer but revealed that neither he nor his agent were contacted by the Catalan club over a potential return.
Nothing came to me. Yes, I heard some comments that they needed players there and they were shuffling several names, but they never contacted me or my agent. They probably did not see me as an option.
The 26-year-old admitted that Saints have been below par this season and urged his men to treat each remaining Premier League game as a cup final.
This year we are trying to get the results with the team. We are all very even in the table. We are having trouble getting out of the area below and, simply, the problem is consistency. Winning three or four matches in a row is very difficult. We have 10 finals ahead. It’s all tight and it’s not easy.
