Southampton secured their passage through to the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over a poor Watford side at St Mary’s Stadium.
Jack Stephens scored the only goal of the game in what was, in truth, a very poor encounter between two sides who are really lacking any confidence at the moment.
Both sides selected strong teams but Watford failed to create too much. Although, they should have levelled late on when Christian Kabasele missed a sitter from just a few yards out.
Southampton will be pleased to have booked their place in Monday’s draw but they face a massive week in the Premier League with Brighton to visit St Mary’s whilst they also face a trip to the Midlands to face West Brom in two vital matches.
Saints made just two changes for the tie with Steven Davis and Sofiane Boufal coming into the side.
Here’s how we rated the Southampton players following the victory.
