According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are in further talks with Ligue 1 side Monaco over a deal to sign striker Guido Carrillo.
The Saints have been heavily linked with the striker, with Crystal Palace also credited with an interest.
Southampton haven’t had a good season and as they sit one place above the drop zone, manager Mauricio Pellegrino is under immense pressure to improve results or he faces the prospect of the sack.
However, his Argentine compatriot, Carrillo, has been offered to many Premier League clubs, with the Saints being one, and with Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin and Shane Long all failing to make an impression, Carrillo could come in and steady the ship at Southampton.

Carrillo has scored eight times in all competitions this season, mostly coming on from the bench as former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao has continued to rediscover his best form.
The Argentine may need a move away if he wants a chance to be on the plane to the World Cup in Russia at the end of this season.
