Match Preview: Southampton vs West Brom

Southampton have another home fixture this weekend, as they prepare to face West Brom at St Mary’s Stadium, in what will be former striker Jay Rodriguez’s first game back on the South Coast since joining the Baggies.

The Saints drew 2-2 against Newcastle last time out, and will be looking to build on their performance when they play the Midlands club.

Tony Pulis’ side, who drew 1-1 at Leicester on Monday, have had a four day break in between these two fixtures, in which both have been away from home.

The visitors will be hoping to have a first-team goalkeeper fit in time for the match on Saturday, with Ben Foster missing the Leicester match injured, only for stand-in keeper Boaz Myhill to pull up during Monday night’s affair. However Pulis believes that one of them will be OK to start.

The Baggies injury problems worsen, with James Morrison, Oliver Burke and Hal Robson-Kanu all absent with muscular injuries.

Southampton have no fresh injury problems ahead of the match, but Italian striker Manolo Gabbiadini will be looking to cement himself a starting place, after bagging two goals against Newcastle last weekend.

Full-back Jeremy Pied continues to recover from his long-term injury, so will not feature.
