Southampton’s faltering attack has one netted them seven goals in eight Premier League games so far this season which has led to a lot of speculation suggesting they will look to add another striker to the squad in January.
Mauricio Pellegrino is reportedly eyeing a move for out-of-favour Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer but it’s believed that the Saints will face competition from La Liga outfit Celta Vigo for his signature.
Alcacer signed for Barcelona last summer from Valencia for a reported £27m but was largely a bit-part player for the club, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Breaking into an attack that features Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar was always going to be tricky, but even after the Brazilian forward completed a world-record move to PSG, the 24-year-old striker has still been starved of playing time, starting just one La Liga game so far this season.
Capped 13 times by Spain, scoring six goals, Alcacer is desperate for first-team football and Southampton are ready to offer him that, but Celta Vigo are readying a bid of their own to keep him on their shores.
