Three Key Saints: Crystal Palace (A)

Southampton make their second trip away from home this season on Saturday, as they travel to struggling Crystal Palace.

The Eagles sacked their new manager Frank De Boer after just four games in charge, having lost all four and failing to score a single goal.

The South London club have just appointed former England and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson as their new manager, with less than a week to sort out his team ahead of the clash this weekend.

Southampton have had quite a poor start to the season, only winning and scoring in one of four games so far, and will hope that they can end that drought against a shaky Palace side.

Ahead of the lunch-time kick-off clash, here are three key Saints for this match.

Oriol Romeu

The Spaniard has been relatively solid so far this season. Romeu has been keeping things tight in the midfield, but has struggled to find a strong partner beside him. Mario Lemina seems the perfect choice, and will hope that Mauricio Pellegrino feels the same way, having dropped him against Watford last week.

Hopefully we can see them back together this week, and can keep things quiet and organised in the centre of the park.

Dusan Tadic

A slightly controversial choice, but last year against Palace at home was arguably the Serbian’s best performance of the season. He will be hoping to repeat that after a few shaky performances in recent weeks.

Tadic was dropped against Watford for Sofiane Boufal, but when the Serbian came on at half time, he looked like the only person interested in creating and scoring goals.

Hopefully we can see some of Tadic’s talent against Palace this weekend, providing some deserved service for the starved Manolo Gabbiadini.

Wesley Hoedt

The Dutchman had a decent first game in Saints colours, mopping up any loose balls and commanding the back line, something Pellegrino’s side has missed in recent weeks. He looks to be another great signing by Les Reed.

Hopefully Hoedt makes his second start for the club, and can help lead Saints onto their first away win of the season.
