Southampton want a large loan fee for Matt Targett if he is to go to Newcastle temporarily for this season, however, no fee has been mentioned.
Twitter: Southampton want a hefty loan fee for Matt Targett – deal viewed ‘unlikely’ by Nufc at this stage. (@CaulkinTheTimes)
With Newcastle being in the market for a new left back, Matt Targett emerged as a target for Newcastle this transfer deadline day morning, after a loan bid for Chelsea’s Kenedy was rejected, with The Blues wanting to keep him at the club.

However, Southampton do want a big loan fee from Newcastle to loan the young left back, which means a deal could be unlikely and The Magpies would have to look elsewhere to bring in a left sided full back before the 23:00 deadline tonight, which is edging closer and closer.
Although Targett would not play in front of current Saints left back, Ryan Bertrand, if the main choice is to get injured or suspended then Targett is a great backup to have, which explains why a big loan fee would be needed, for Southampton to bring in someone else.
