Who are Wolves’ players to watch out for?

Tonight, Southampton face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second round of the Carabao Cup at St Mary’s.

Wolves have had a flying start this season, currently sitting third in the Championship table.

In their first four matches this season, Wolves have won three and lost one game, against top of the table Cardiff.

But who are their key men?

Ruben Neves

Wolves broke their transfer record to sign the central midfielder from Porto, in what is one of the signings of the summer.

Neves, who has previously been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United, is regarded as a top talent and is the second youngest player to ever captain a club in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old is a good passer and a strong tackler, as well as having an incredible long shot. Neves demonstrated his ability to shoot from distance against Hull this season as the youngster curled the ball from 30 yards out into the back of the net.

Southampton must be careful not to give Neves any space on the edge of the box.

Barry Douglas

After moving from Konyaspor in the summer, The Scotsman has been Wolves’ best player this season, scoring once and setting up two goals in just four games this season.

Douglas plays left-wing back in Wolves’ five at the back-formation and the position fits him perfectly as it gives him an opportunity to show off his fantastic crossing ability.

As well as having a killer cross, Douglas is also a strong set piece taker and good in the air.

Whoever starts at right back will have a tough time on his hands when up against Douglas.

Willy Boly

Boly signed for Wolves from Porto on a season long loan in the summer.

The 26-year-old struggled last season, but since his move to Wolves he has looked very solid in every game he’s played this season, helping his team keep two clean sheets in four games.

Standing at 6ft 3in the centre back is strong in the air, very good at playing the ball out from the back and he is also very strong.

As well as that, only two defenders in the Championship have made more interceptions than the Frenchman this season.
