The long-running uncertainty surrounding the future of Southampton regarding a proposed takeover has finally been resolved.

In a statement from Katharina Liebherr, she confirms that the club has been sold to the Gao Family after lengthy talks.

It’s believed that the Gao Family have now secured an 80% controlling stake in the football club, stumping up £210m to take the reigns from Liebherr.
Southampton have become the latest club to be targeted for Chinese investment, following West Brom who were bought out last year, and both Milan clubs are now also owned by Chinese firms.
