Southampton began their 2017/18 Premier League season with a frustrating goalless draw with Swansea City.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side managed to rack up a total of 29 shots, but only got two of them on target.
Saints began well, as a corner found the head of Manolo Gabbiadini, but his header struck the outside of the near post.
The second chance for Saints came shortly after, as an overlapping run from Ryan Bertrand saw the full back pull it back to Dusan Tadic, but his right footed effort went just past the post.

Swansea came back after the break rejuvenated for a short time, but it was all Southampton on the day.
Southampton had numerous chances in the second half, but still couldn’t get a clear effort on goal.
It came down to the last minutes of the game, when Maya Yoshida became a shock name for a 25-yard free kick, but remarkably skimmed the side netting.
Charlie Austin had the last chance of the game, as the striker was played into the box, but his low strike hit the same part of the side netting, meaning the points would be shared on the first day of Southampton’s 17/18 season.
