Southampton have announced Mario Lemina as the club’s second and latest signing of the summer transfer window, just four days before the start of the new Premier League season.
The Gabonese midfielder has signed on an initial €17 million fee with €3 million in add-ons, which could result in the deal being a club record.
Lemina started his career FC Lorient, breaking through as a teenager. In the following summer he made the move to Marseille, where he initially struggled to settle into the team. Two years and 41 appearances with Marseille saw him seal a move to Italian giants Juventus, initially on loan, before the deal was made permanent in April 2016.
Lemina’s last competitive appearance in a Juventus shirt came in last season’s Champions League final, where his side were defeated by Real Madrid.
Here, we take a look at five reasons why Mario Lemina is a very good piece of business.
