Southampton host Sevilla this Saturday for the last game of pre-season before the return of the Premier League.
Saints have had a mixed pre-season so far, only managing to win one friendly out of the four played. Along with this, they have only managed to make one signing in the transfer window so far, so the off-season hasn’t really made for great viewing.
Southampton look to end pre-season on a high, though, following an embarrassing show against FC Augsburg in midweek. However, Sevilla will be no easy task. The winners of three of the last four Europa League tournaments are Saints’ biggest test before returning to Premier League action on August 12th at home to Swansea.
With this being the last and the arguably toughest test of pre-season, I would expect to see a very strong starting line-up from Saints as Mauricio Pellegrino looks to give the fans and himself a rough idea of the side that will kick start the season on the 12th.
