According to Spanish news outlet AS (h/t Sport Witness), Atletico Madrid will demand a fee of €5m from Southampton if they want to loan Luciano Vietto for the season.
Vietto impressed when on loan to Sevilla last season, scoring ten and assisting five in 31 appearances. Saints appear to be weighing up their options up front, with the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin, Shane Long and Sam Gallagher all in contention.
Atletico want only a temporary move for Vietto as the 23-year-old showed his talents last season for Sevilla, and does offer a lot for the present and the future. A loan to the Premier League with Southampton would surely be a good way for the striker to develop.
Sevilla’s loan fee for Vietto was €3m but Atletico now want €5m for the Argentine after his impressive season in the 2016/17 campaign.
Southampton’s new manager Mauricio Pellegrino was at Spanish club Alaves last season so he knows fully well what Vietto has to offer and there’s no surprise that The Saints are linked with players from La Liga due to the new manager’s arrival.
