According to Goal, Southampton are set to hijack Watford’s move for Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah.
Southampton believe that they can develop Chalobah to be a great player in the future just like they did with Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw.
Watford are also in the running to sign the Chelsea youngster and will battle with Southampton to try and sign the midfielder for £5 million as he seeks regular first-team football in the Premier League.
Chalobah only has a year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and he does not believe that he will get enough first team football for his liking under Antonio Conte in the coming season.

Chalobah’s future looks bleak as Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko for £35 million.
Fellow Chelsea youngsters Nathan Ake and Bertrand Traore have joined Bournemouth and Lyon respectively as well as Ola Aina who has joined Hull City on loan and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who is set to join Crystal Palace on loan.
