Unfortunately for Jay Rodriguez, injuries have really derailed his progress at Southampton over the last few seasons.
The knee injury suffered in April 2014 cost Rodriguez over 13 months of action before he returned at the end of the 14/15 season, while ankle surgery kept the England international out for five months during the 15/16 season.
Rodriguez was always facing an uphill battle to earn his place back in the side and rediscover his best form at St. Mary’s, a battle he seems to have lost as the club are preparing to cut ties with the former Burnley forward.
The Daily Mail are reporting that West Brom are hoping to conclude a £14m deal to sign Rodriguez by the weekend in Tony Pulis’ third attempt to sign the player in the last 12 months.
Despite making 34 appearances for the Saints last season, scoring six goals, the club are eager to bring in another forward this summer and Rodriguez is the man who is going to make way with both Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini considered key members of the first-team squad.
