Saints have a habit of signing young and unknown players from around the globe and then selling them on for large amounts of money.
The U21 European Championships is the best place to start looking for them. The tournament is a glamorous stage for the continent’s brightest and best young talents to strut their stuff and show to the world just how good they are.
Four Southampton players are already featuring for England in Poland. This includes James Ward-Prowse, who will be captaining the Three Lions and Jack Stephens, who impressed for Saints in the second half of last season, filling in for the injured Virgil van Dijk.
Germany and Spain enter the tournament as clear favourites and feature very talent-packed squads and both with several players who have already appeared for their impressive senior sides.
However I have picked some less known players who wouldn’t cost a bomb and are realistic and quality signings for Southampton.
