Southampton finished up the 2016/17 campaign this month, and it was something of a relief to the supporters.
It’s been a long old season, with Saints fighting on four fronts at different times throughout the course of the season as European football at the group stages was experienced for the first time in the club’s history.
Claude Puel led Saints to an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League upon his maiden campaign in English football and helped the club to their first major cup final since 2003 as Saints lost out to Manchester United in the EFL Cup.
However, the Frenchman has taken a share of the blame for Saints’ embarrassing FA Cup exit in the fourth round and has also been considered at fault for the club’s undoubtedly underwhelming Europa League campaign.
Several players have stepped up throughout the course of the season, while others have failed to convince.
Here are my end of season ratings for all of the players that made five or more appearances in all competitions.
