The 2016/17 season has drawn to a close; the end of a long, tiring nine months of Premier League football.
The season has had its good and bad moments, with an EFL Cup final and an eighth place finish to show for in what has been an underwhelming season in the eyes of many Southampton supporters.
Many have been very critical of the Saints’ boring style of play and lack of finishing in front of goal, as Southampton only managed to rack up 17 goals in front of their home fans.
The manager Claude Puel has been under a lot of scrutiny because of this, and has been linked with a few moves away from the South Coast this summer, most noticeably Saint Etienne, which has been very appealing to most of the fans.
But Puel has brought a lot of positives to Southampton, with an EFL Cup final under the Frenchman’s belt, as Saints narrowly lost out on silverware to Manchester United.
Puel has also shown off the youth of the club, with Sam McQueen, Josh Sims, and Jack Stephens playing in a handful of Premier League games this season.
But now it’s time to look back at every player who have made at least five appearances this year, and give my personal opinion on their performances this season:
