Manchester United face Southampton tomorrow evening at St Mary’s. The last time United faced the Saints was at Wembley Stadium in the final of the EFL Cup.
Southampton were very unfortunate not to get a result on the day and a couple of decisions went against Claude Puel’s side that might have cost them on the day. Manchester United just had too much quality and were able to take the few chances they had.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was a thorn in Southampton’s side is currently injured and won’t be able to play against Southampton on Wednesday night. The Swedish striker’s two well-taken goals either side of a Jesse Lingard strike saw Saints falter in the final, with a fightback proving to be insufficient.
Southampton at Wembley were very unfortunate as I said, but in recent times we haven’t seen the Southampton from the game at Wembley. Southampton were in really good form and Manolo Gabbiadini was banging them in for fun, but it’s all gone downhill recently. The Italian notched Saints’ two goals in 3-2 loss and was on fire, but he’s since lacked service.
The performances have been poor and the fans are getting seemingly frustrated with manager Claude Puel.
Saints’ last clash with United saw a 3-2 loss for them, so let’s hope for a similar performance but the result to go Southampton’s way!
