Southampton made it three games without scoring a goal, as they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal.
Saints had a chance to draw level on points with West Brom in eighth, but failed to do so with Arsenal’s quality in attack.
Claude Puel’s side had two great chances to go 1-0 up in the first half, as Manolo Gabbiadini’s shot from close range stung the legs of Gunners keeper Petr Cech, and Nathan Redmond produced another good save from Cech as he struck a powerful shot from 20 yards which was tipped over the bar by the former Czech Republic international.
But Arsenal were the ones to take the lead, as a moment of pure class by Alexis Sanchez saw him turn two of Saints’ defenders and slot the ball home through Fraser Forster’s legs.
The Gunners would double their lead in the late stages, as Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head home from close range.
Despite a loss for Claude Puel’s men, a number of players had decent games, but it’s time to ask you who your man of the match was in the duel below!
