Southampton start their first set of midweek games with a tough match against Arsenal at St. Mary’s on Wednesday.
The Saints will be looking to improve on their good performance against Liverpool on Sunday, as they drew 0-0 after a solid defensive performance and a penalty save from Fraser Forster.
Arsenal have just come off the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United, with Danny Welbeck scoring against his former club, and Granit Xhaka scoring just three minutes before with a 20-yard effort which deflected in.
A win for Claude Puel’s side could take them level on points with West Brom in eighth and above them on goal difference, however a loss could mean they drop as low as 15th so this is a very important game for the Saints.
This is also a crucial game for Arsene Wenger’s side, who have a chance of overtaking Manchester United and moving into fifth if United lose against Tottenham.
