Southampton clinched a vital win last night as they beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at St Mary’s Stadium.
It was a big game for Saints, who had the opportunity to rise as high as ninth with a win. However, if they had lost, they could have dropped all the way down to 15th.
Claude Puel’s men got off to a bad start as Christian Benteke fired home the opening goal of the match, but got back on level terms on the stroke of half-time as Nathan Redmond converted yet again.
Saints were on top for a lot of the match but struggled to find a way through, with Shane Long unable to score the 2385373 chances he had.
However, the hosts finally matched their huff with puff and Maya Yoshida converted late on, before James Ward-Prowse scored just moments later to make it 3-1.
We’ve taken a look at how Saints’ players fared, along with a match rating for Claude Puel.
