In-form Saints striker Manolo Gabbiadini has revealed what was said during a short conversation with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho following his performance in Sunday’s EFL Cup final defeat at Wembley.
Gabbiadini, who has now scored five goals in just three games for the Saints, scored a clinical brace in the capital to ensure that his side pushed United as hard as they could for the trophy.

He could have had a hat-trick, too, but for a wrongly-disallowed goal with the scoreline still at 0-0.
As quoted by Football Italia, the 25-year-old attacker revealed Mourinho’s kind words:
You did a great job, you scored two goals of a real champion
The United boss’ praise clearly meant a lot to the Italian striker:
Mourinho is a special person, and not only for his successes as a manager. He is charismatic.
The ex-Napoli man will get another chance to shine in front of the Portuguese manager this season when the Saints host United in the Premier League – a date is yet to be confirmed for the fixture.
