Ahead of the EFL Cup final this weekend, I caught up with yet another ex-Southampton player; Exeter midfielder Lee Holmes.
I spoke to Lee ahead of the big clash this weekend with Manchester United, asking him a few questions on the clash and about his time at Southampton.
How do you reflect on your time here at Southampton?
Lee Holmes: My time at Southampton on the whole was amazing. I have a lot of unbeatable memories, a lot of highs, also some lows but I’ve come away from it still loving the club with lifelong best friends from my time there.
Do you speak to anyone from your time at Southampton?
Lee Holmes: Yes, I still have a lot of lifelong friends there such as Kelvin Davis, Dan Harding and Danny Butterfield but at the time we had an unbelievable dressing room and I still keep in contact with Richard Chaplow, Frazer Richardson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
How did it feel to returning for Kelvin Davis’ testimonial?
LH: The testimonial was a great experience and an unbelievable honour to play with some of my best friends on Kelvin’s big day. It was also nice to play in front of a packed out crowd who have played a big part in getting the club from where it was to where it is now and obviously the icing on the cake to score twice!

Will you be tuning in for the EFL Cup final, or will you be there to see us (hopefully) lift the trophy?
Lee Holmes: Me and a few of the old boys will be there with our sons to cheer the Saints on to victory.
What have you made of the season so far for Saints?
LH: Having lost so many top players in the summer, it was always going to be a difficult season but it just shows how strong the club is to be in a cup final and a solid position in the Premier League.
Do you often come to St Mary’s nowadays if you get the chance?
Lee Holmes: Whenever I get the chance I like to get back and see familiar faces, but with me still playing it’s not as often as I’d like.
I would like to say a big thank you to Lee for doing this.
