Five strikers Saints should look to sign

It is very clear that this season Southampton have been struggling for goals, scoring just 22 goals in 22 Premier League games; the second lowest total in the top flight this season.

This terrible stat is mainly down to the sale of last season’s top scorer Graziano Pelle to Shandong Luneng and current top scorer Charlie Austin getting injured and being ruled out for the next three months at least.

The Saints have been very good at creating chances – 243 to be exact – the seventh most in the league, however strikers Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez have been failing to convert, scoring just one and four Premier League goals each.

Recently a key source of goals has come from the defence. Five out of the last 14 goals have been scored by the defenders in the squad; three from star man Virgil van Dijk and one apiece from Maya Yoshida and Ryan Bertrand.

So, here are five strikers that have been impressive this season and I feel could turn Southampton’s season around and fix their goal scoring woes.
