According to a report from French news outlet Le Buteur, Southampton are one of the clubs tracking Montpellier playmaker Ryad Boudebouz.
The Algerian international has always been an underrated asset to Ligue 1, with him previously shining during his tenure at Sochaux out in France, yet he’s never really reached the heights of his potential.
However, in recent times he’s looked to be in top form and has been the main source of creativity for Montpellier in Ligue 1 and it comes as no surprise to see the technically gifted attacker attracting interest.

Boudebouz can operate on either wing and can also play as the number ten; positions that don’t really seem to be urgently necessary to bolster for Claude Puel.
However, the Frenchman will be familiar with Boudebouz through his links with Ligue 1 and he’ll trust his judgement if the 26-year-old is a target, with the report claiming that Puel is closely following the Algerian’s progress and strongly considering moving in for him.
West Brom and West Ham are also linked, but it seems as though Saints are the side showing the most interest in Boudebouz, according to the report.
A winter move is unlikely, with Montpellier keen to keep hold of their prized asset, but a summer move may not be out of the realms of possibility.
