Three things in life are certain. Death, taxes and Southampton fans whinging about the club not signing a striker in the summer.
Saints are struggling when it comes to taking chances so far this season and the stats simply don’t lie about this.
Twitter: #SaintsFC have a total shot conversion rate of 9.16% this season in the Premier League; the lowest in the league. Poor. #SaintsFC (@LukeOsmanRS)
Twitter: Also, #SaintsFC have dropped more points – 8 – than anyone from winning positions in the Premier League season so far. (@LukeOsmanRS)
Charlie Austin has been in great form for Claude Puel’s men, bagging eight goals in 11 games in all competitions and really cementing his place as the club’s first choice striker.
Nathan Redmond is still adjusting but has shown lots of promising signs and is looking to be turning into a great player for Saints.

Then you have Jay Rodriguez and Shane Long. The former is injury prone and despite bagging two goals so far this season in the limited games he’s played, he leaves a lot to be desired. Long has been woeful in front of goal and needs to improve when he returns from his hamstring injury.
So, here are five strikers I reckon Saints should sign when the January transfer window rolls around!
