As I’m sure you all know, next up for Southampton after the international break is Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
As with most recent meetings with The Gunners, the game will see Saints come up against a couple of their former starlets in Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Defender Calum Chambers misses out on coming up against his former club as he secured a loan move to Middlesbrough during the summer transfer window.
The Saints have fared fairly well at home to The Gunners since their return to the top flight, however, their away record paints a different picture. A 6-1 thrashing for Nigel Adkins’ side at the Emirates back in 2012 standing out as Saints continued their wretched form in North London.
Nonetheless, I take a look back at our previous five meetings with Arsene Wenger’s men, which doesn’t make as grim reading as some might have first thought.
