Southampton’s Executive Director of Football Les Reed says that he is “delighted” to confirm the signing of Norwich winger Nathan Redmond on a five-year deal.
Reed, who has been a member of the Southampton board since 2014, feels Redmond has the potential to become a key player for The Saints after speaking on the club’s official website.
Despite just being 22, Nathan has gained plenty of experience in the Premier League with Norwich City, showing his quality at the top level on a consistent basis.
Redmond made 35 appearances last season for Norwich, scoring six goals in all competitions.
Les Reed also reiterated Redmond’s talent on the international level;
He has also performed well on the international stage, playing a key role in helping England U-21’s win the Toulon Tournament this summer.
Since his debut for the England under-21’s back in 2013, Redmond has appeared in 28 games for his country, with an impressive nine goals to his name from the right flank.
Finally, Reed spoke about what the future holds for the 22-year-old winger.
While Nathan has already gained Premier League experience, he has the potential to continue developing and becoming an integral part of the squad for years to come.
The exciting English winger is Saints’ first signing of the summer and it is sure to be a well received one after the departure of Victor Wanyama was confirmed just days ago.
The future is uncertain at Southampton as they remain managerless after the departure of Ronald Koeman to Everton, however for the new man that takes charge, Redmond is certainly a nice welcoming gift upon his arrival.
