The Telegraph have reported that the highly rated Southampton defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama has been valued between £12 million and £16 million by the Saints.
With only a year left on his current contract, it is believed the club are willing to let him go this year rather than seeing him leave for free in 2017.
Speculation was rife last summer that the Kenyan would join Tottenham and link up with former boss Mauricio Pochettino. The player made his intentions clear and was keen to leave but Saints did not agree to the move. After the transfer debacle, Wanyama had a solid season for the Saints and, after brilliant performances in games such as the 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal on Boxing Day, his stock has risen somewhat.

The Telegraph also mentions that Southampton are keen to do the deal on their terms, demonstrating that they are unwilling to be pushed around by their fellow Premier League clubs. This marks a change in direction from previous transfer markets where the south coast club had seen an exodus of players from their ranks, most notably to clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
This summer seems as though it will be much quieter; with the club wanting to consolidate due to regular European football next season.
However, it appears that Wanyama is still looking for a move to a Champions League club and could potentially not be a Southampton player come September.
