Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster has said that making an appearance for England in either of the upcoming internationals would be the ‘icing on the cake’.
Forster is in line to make his first England appearance in just less than 18 months, with the three Lions facing Germany and the Netherlands in the space of four days.
The international goalkeeper’s last England appearance came against Scotland, in a 3-1 victory at Celtic Park. Forster hasn’t had it easy over the last year; he was stretchered off just eight minutes into the Saints’ Premier League clash against Burnley at St Mary’s.

Forster spoke to Southampton’s website and said it would be the ultimate return from injury if he was to make an appearance for England in the coming days.
It would be the icing on the cake for the last year for me,It couldn’t have gone much better really since getting fit. We are on a great run at Southampton and to be back involved is fantastic.
But it will be a case of working as hard as I can and show what I can do in training. Then it is someone else’s decision. I will work hard, show what I can do and go from there.
The Saints shot-stopper made his return on the 13th January, in a 2-0 win over Watford. After that, Southampton went on a six-game unbeaten run and throughout that run, they conceded no goals.
Forster’s return has been one which has been greeted with great joy by all Southampton fans and they will definitely like him to make his England return as well.
