Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that his side are back on track, after following up a mid-season blip with five successive clean sheets and climbing six places in the Premier League table.
This isn’t the limit for Saints and they will be aiming to go even higher in the table and maybe even better last season’s record-breaking seventh placed finish, which certainly seems possible with the unpredictable season that is taking place.
Van Dijk told Southampton‘s official website about his delight for the Saints defence and their five successive shut-outs.
Five clean sheets is amazing for the defenders and for the whole team. It gives us a lot of confidence being unbeaten.
He also spoke of his pleasure of being back on track.
Yeah, definitely I think you could say that [we are back on track]. We have a big game coming up against Swansea away and hopefully we can continue the form we are in,
The Dutch international put in once again another impressive display to keep West Ham’s strike-force at bay and was correctly awarded man of the match for his efforts.

Van Dijk and Saints travel to 16th placed, relegation threatened Swansea City next Saturday, looking to continue the good run of form.
We have a run going on and we want to continue that.
As a defender you always want a clean sheet. We’ve done it five times now and it means we are in a good position if we score.
We’ll not look too far ahead, but we’re going to focus on Swansea City and see where it takes us.
The Dutchman was also pleased with Saints’ defensive efforts against West Ham United on Saturday.
We had to dig in a lot. We knew that they would put [Andy] Carroll on and the other striker too,
They were trying to force something and we just had to be ready and give a little bit more.
It was a good team performance and we’re very happy with the three points.
Was van Dijk your Man of the Match against West Ham?
