Southampton left-back Matt Targett is looking to repeat history when Saints travel to the Emirates on Tuesday to face title-hunting Arsenal.
The last time Targett played at Arsenal was in September 2014; a 2-1 victory over the Gunners. A penalty from Dusan Tadic levelled the scoring and a long distance strike from the departed Nathaniel Clyne gave Southampton the win after a spectacular Alexis Sanchez opener. The victory secured Saints’ place in the next round of the Capital One Cup, but they fell short in the quarter finals as they were defeated by League One outfit Sheffield United in a 1-0 loss.
Targett will be looking to get a similar sort of result when Saints make the trip to North London in two days time.
It would be a massive result if we could go there and get a win or a draw. I think it would give us confidence going forward and we can take it from there.
The England under 21 international told Southampton’s official website:
I think it’s West Ham after that, so we can go into that game with our heads held high and just play our football.

Targett has impressed in a new left wing-back role in the past few games, slotting into the side very nicely with Ryan Bertrand adapting to his new left centre-back role.
Despite recent performances and current form, Targett has stated that Saints must remember that it is Arsenal they are playing against.
The form we’re in at the moment, I think we can beat anyone in the division, so it’s important that we go there with confidence, but we need to be wary as Arsenal are such a good team.
Like Targett explained, Saints have to remember it is Arsenal they are facing but they will have the belief that they can get a result, after the 4-0 triumph just over a month ago.
Will Southampton be able to get a result against Arsenal?
