Ronald Koeman is out to change Southampton’s disappointing run against West Brom since he arrived as coach on the south coast. Under Koeman against the Baggies, Saints have won zero; drawn two and lost one, scoring no goals in the process. However, the Dutch manager wants to see some change in fortune this Saturday, when Saints host West Brom at St Mary’s.
Off the back of a comfortable 2-0 victory over Watford, Koeman has expressed his desire about taking Saints chances.
In the final pass, the final cross and the positions in the box we have to improve that, because they are defending with a lot of players.
Koeman told Southampton FC.
They have physically strong players, you need running people, you need good movements in the box and then you can create chances. Then you have to score.
Tony Pulis’ side have only conceded ten goals away from home and coming down south after a 2-2 draw at Chelsea, West Brom’s confidence will be sky-high.
It’s a difficult one because we know them very well and they know us very well.
Koeman added.
They always try to keep a very good defensive line, very disciplined in a defensive way. It’s difficult to create chances, but I have a good hope because in every game we can score and can create.
It’s tough against them because they have a very good organised defensive structure in the team and that’s hard to beat sometimes.
Will Southampton be able to change the ways in recent times against West Brom this Saturday? After the 0-0 draw earlier in the season, it proves that it’s going to be a very tough task.
