Oriol Romeu has stated that Saints must remain positive for the upcoming games after they were beaten yet again by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round as the Eagles were the latest team to put Southampton to the sword, coming away with a 2-1 victory at St Mary’s.
After Southampton’s third successive defeat, the Spanish midfield maestro has said that there is little time to dwell on it going into Wednesday’s game against a high-flying Watford.
We are not obviously in the best moment in the league, but the players are clever enough to know that this is the way we have to fight.
We have to get the spirit the 90 minutes. There is another game on Wednesday and life goes on and football goes on and we just have to prepare that game well, go from the first minute until the last one and I’m sure the results will come.
The goalscorer, Romeu, said his second goal for Southampton meant nothing to him because of the end result.
When you are scoring, always you want to win, it doesn’t matter who’s on the scoresheet or who is getting the ball into the net. It was a battle, it was a very tough game, it was very quick in the second half – a lot of transition, a lot of chances. I think we had some more, but we didn’t put them in, and that’s football.
Were you impressed with Romeu’s performance against Crystal Palace?
