Southampton striker Graziano Pelle is set to get a cortisone injection before the Saints’ game against Spurs to make sure that the Italian is fit to feature at the weekend.
Pelle is currently nursing a knee injury due to which he could only make a substitute appearance during Southampton’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace this past week.
He has scored nine goals so far this season but has gone off the boil in recent months as he has yet to score since his goal against Bournemouth last month.
Southampton gaffer Ronald Koeman is intent on playing Pelle against Tottenham, who were unbeaten since the first day of the season, before losing 2-1 to Newcastle 3 days ago.
Ronald Koeman was quoted as saying, as per Squawka : “Pellè has been struggling several weeks now with a knee injury.
“He will get an injection that takes him out for two days. Then we hope we have resolved the problem.”
Southampton, after weekend’s loss to Alan Pardew’s side, lie 12th in the table and would hope that the 29-year-old Italian is fit to feature against their former managers’ 5th placed side.
