Gaston Ramirez’s agent has said he ‘wants a return to bologna’ with a move in January now looking even more likely, according to football-italia.net.
The 24 year-old has failed to live up to expectations after his big money move in 2012, a then record fee for the Saints.
Speculation regarding the Uruguayan’s future has been rife over the past 6 months or so, after being shipped out on loan to Hull City at the back end of last season.
And with the Uruguayan international’s contract set to expire next summer, agent Pablo Betancourt says a return to the Stadio Dall’Ara is number one on his wish-list.
He wants to return to Italy, he’s constantly thinking about it, and when he talks about Italy he speaks of Bologna. In Italy, Bologna is his preferred destination.
Ramirez, who left Bologna to join Southampton, has only featured twice this season under Ronald Koeman. Both of those appearances coming in League Cup fixtures.
And with time running out on the midfielder’s contract, Betancourt believes a deal for Ramirez could be done by as early as the new year.
At Christmas Gaston could be released and and (Bologna sporting director Pantaleo) Corvino likes the player.” Ramirez’s agent said. With equal offers, or even slightly lower, Bologna have the priority of Gaston Ramirez’s decisions.
If Southampton were to make Gaston available, it looks like there is only place he will end up. The former Bologna man has made 52 appearances for the south coast side, scoring eight goals.
