The humble Dutch has done an incredible job so far at Southampton FC following the departure of current Spurs manager Maurico Pochettino in the Summer of 2014.
The worries and anxieties which were among Saints fans and the club in the summer of 2014 are a thing of the past. Ronald Koeman has done a superb job in replacing key players who have left for bigger expectations, but are those expectations really coming along at their new clubs?
Koeman has managed to replace the likes of: Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Spurs’ centre-back Toby Alderweireld, academy product Luke Shaw and Saints legend Morgan Schneiderlin who are now at Manchester United. Not forgetting the one and only, West Bromwich Albion’s Rickie Lambert, who will forever be in the Saints fans’ hearts. So as well as that, Koeman and the staff must have had tough times in previous transfer windows. Nevertheless, the Saints manage to bounce back stronger than ever.
There is such a great philosophy at the club, there is such an atmosphere of contentment and vibrancy surrounding the players when they are playing and training. The players and the manager have such good relationships unlike the ones we see with current Chelsea manager José Mourinho and the sackings of both Brendan Rodgers and Tim Sherwood. The club is like a family at Southampton F.C. A great set of principles, play, resilience, connection, ethics, business and communal values. They manage to maintain their wondrous academy which continues to flourish despite the transitions the club has dealt with. They don’t purchase success, they certainly nurture it at Southampton!
There is no doubt that Ronald Koeman will be a great success for the club and fans and that he will be a role model for failing managers in all leagues. Generally, the club altogether are understated by the media and should be praised more substantially for their successful resilience in the Premier League and for what they do as a club.
