Mane praises super Saints after comeback

Wide midfielder Sadio Mane has hailed his teams superb performance after they came from a goal down at Anfield to protect their unbeaten record on the road this season.

In Jurgen Klopp’s first ever Premier League outing at Anfield and a livelier than usual home crowd, the saints silenced the noise with a late equaliser in which what was a hard-fought encounter.

The in-form Mane pounced with only four minutes left on the clock to cancel out Christian Benteke’s opener.

Although netting the leveler, Mane was sent off moments later for two bookable offences.

The twenty-three year-old was disappointed with the red card but thought his side showed great courage to have come away from Merseyside with a draw.

“It was not easy, because also Liverpool is a big team, so we just tried to give our best and finally we make 1-1,” Mane said.

“For the red card it’s unlucky – two yellow cards. But the most important thing is the team get a point”, he added.

Mane was also quick to heap praise on his sides performance, and believes the result is far more significant than anything else.

“We work together as a team and maybe I scored a goal for the team but more important is to win and get points for the team,” Sadio said.

This was the Senegalese’s sixth goal already this campaign and will only add fuel to the ongoing speculation on Sadio’s future, with a number of a clubs rumoured to be looking at him.

Mane will now miss Wednesday’s League Cup clash with Aston Villa due to suspension but will be available for the visit of Bournemouth on Sunday.
