Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster has given Southampton fans a reason to be cheerful this Friday afternoon after uploading videos of his continued recovery from a potentially career threatening injury.
The 6ft 7 giant has been out of action since the back-end of last season after breaking his knee cap in a collision with Burnley’s Sam Vokes.
But the shot stopper has revealed several posts in which show him working on his box jumps and focusing on ensuring the ‘correct technique’.
The former Celtic man has been keeping fans in touch with a series of updates on Instagram, declaring he is ‘ever closer’ to a return.
Back in March, Manager Ronald Koeman said the injury was ‘looking bad’ and the doctors were ‘not positive’ after the Englishman suffered the knee injury performing a goal kick.
But after surgery on his torn patellar tendon and seven months of work, this comes as great news to everybody involved with Southampton.
Maarten Stekelenburg has been a more than able replacement for the 27-year-old with an impressive record between the sticks, the Dutchman has only conceded nine goals in eight games, including matches against Manchester United and Chelsea.
But Forster will be itching to get back in contention for the Saints in what will only be healthy competition for the number one spot, and could even find himself fighting for a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad after this excellent recovery news.
