An avid fan of the favoured pass-time Fantasy Football clearly wasn’t happy with how one of his players’ points were decided, so he wrote an 812-word letter to the Fantasy Premier League makers and unbelievably received a response!
The unnamed man (@FuzzyWarbles: Twitter) was unhappy with how one of his chosen players, Southampton right-back Cedric Soares, didn’t receive the points he believed he should’ve gained. After being subbed off at the 59 minute mark in the 2-2 draw against Leicester, the fan thought that Soares should receive the two points for playing 60 minutes, which he wasn’t rewarded with.
This is where the fan decided to take matters into his own hands by sending an essay-like letter to the website saying that the defender should’ve been given the benefit of the doubt as “the substitute is always credited for a bit more time than they actually play”.
He argued that Soares should’ve been given a clean sheet bonus due to Leicester not scoring their first until the 66th minute, when he’d gone off. Due to Soares not completing a full 60 minutes, he didn’t receive the clean sheet points which is where the fan had a so-called bone to pick with the popular website.
His letter included all of the above and much, much more. The next part is the strangest part, he actually got a reply from Fantasy Football, albeit a very blunt one. The reply backed up why Soares didn’t get the extra points and ended with, “This won’t now be changed.”
The fan wasn’t happy with the reply due, in the main, to it disagreeing with what he believed. But as the reply said, it wouldn’t be changed.
It’s strange how far a person will go to get an extra few virtual points in a virtual game. Some people just have too much time on their hands!
