With both Steven Davis and Graziano Pelle making significant contributions for their countries midweek, manager Ronald Koeman has spoke about their importance for the team.
Graziano Pelle scored late on to help his Italian side comeback against Norway. While Davis, who scored in the 3-1 win away at Chelsea scored both goals for Northern Ireland to ensure they finished top of their qualification group.
Ronald Koeman has been full of praise for the effort that both players have put in at club level.
Speaking about Steven Davis, Koeman said: “Its not always a player whose presentation is with a lot of words, but his experience, his feel for the game and his personality are very important for the team.
I think from the beginning that Steven play for Southampton, the people inside recognised his strengths, his importance and what the player is.”
After scoring twelve goals last season, Pelle has already found the back of the net five times this campaign. Ronald Koeman believes that the forwards capabilities are shining through.
“Graziano is showing his qualities on a very high level. Only maybe one small doubt about whether he can do the same on Premier League level.
But with the experience what he gets from the first season in the Premier League he’s better than he was and important for the team in how we play football.”
