Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to reject a contract extension as he tries to force through a move to Tottenham.
Spurs failed in their bid to sign the Kenyan in the summer, and Wanyama wants to follow many of his former counterparts out of the door at St. Mary’s with a larger contract at a ‘bigger’ club.
Wanyama has said that he is fully focussed on Southampton, but it is believed that he is hoping to force Saints to sell in January, to avoid losing him on a free transfer next July.
The 24-year-old has made 73 appearances for Southampton since joining them from Scottish side Celtic in 2013 for a fee of around £10m. He has scored three times, and provided a solitary assist.
For his country, he captains the side, and has made 32 appearances, scoring twice for the Kenyan national side.
He will be hoping to feature when Southampton host Leicester City after the international break.
