Southampton are set to do battle with Arsenal and Liverpool to secure the services of Serbian starlet Nikolas Spalek.
Daily Star are reporting that 18-year-old Spalek was watched by scouts from the three clubs as his current team, Zilina, secured a 4-1 victory over current champions Trencin.
He has picked up one cap for the Slovakian U21 side, and has made 12 appearances this season for Zilina. He has been part of the youth setup for Slovakia since U16 level, making 17 overall appearances throughout the various ranks.
He signed for Zilina in January from FC Trnava, where he had made 21 appearances. Since then, he has made 23 appearances for Zilina, scoring his only goal in the win over Trencin that scouts were at.
He was part of the Europa League campaign that saw his team reach the fourth qualifying round, only to lose out to Spanish side Athletic Bilbao on away goals.
