The Spaniard had looked set to complete a move to Old Trafford, but Chelsea hijacked the deal at the last minute to take him to west London.
United are still on the hunt for a wide player, and see Mane as a target. However, it seems they’ll have a tough task on their hands to try and sign the player with Southampton officials saying the player will not be sold.
Sky Sports reported yesterday that a bid had been made by Manchester United, but the deal doesn’t seem likely at the moment, with Southampton determined to keep their man.
Speaking prior to tonight’s Europa League qualifier against FC Midtjylland, the Saints boss said:
“We know what happens. There’s still 10-11 days to go before the window closes, so we will have rumours.
“Nobody is for sale. No, it’s not about money. We would like to continue with these players.”
