Saints captain Jose Fonte has been named in the squad for Portugal’s upcoming games against Armenia for the European Qualifiers and also their friendly against Italy.
Fonte was named Players’ Player and Fans Player of the Year, in a memorable campaign earning them European football for the first time next season.
He will be part of the travelling squad that will be aiming to build a stronger lead at the top of their Euro 2016 qualifying group.
Armenia, who are currently winless in the opening four games of qualifying will welcome Fonte and his compatriots to the Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan, on Saturday 13th June, kicking off at 5pm BST.
Fonte will meet one of his Saints team mates in Geneva where he faces Graziano Pelle and Italy. They kick off at 7:30pm BST on Tuesday 16th June.
Fonte’s impressive form this season has seen him at the heart of the Saints defence which has earned him his first two caps at international level.
Saido Mane is also on international duty in the coming weeks, as his Senegal will have back to back friendlies with Gambia.
Shane Long has been included in the Republic of Ireland squad as they prepare to face England and Scotland.
