Southampton boss, Ronald Koeman has confirmed the club is interested in Feyenoord playmaker Jordy Clasie.
With Morgan Schneiderlin looking likely to leave the Saints Koeman revealed that they Clasie is on a list of potential replacements for the French midfielder.
Koeman told Fox Sports: “At the moment there has not been any contact [with Clasie].”
“There is interest for a number of our players, including Schneiderlin. If he leaves, then Jordy Clasie is on our list.”
Clasie, despite only being 22 years old is the captain at Feyenoord and is said to be valued at around £10million. Southampton will be hoping that Koeman’s knowledge of the Erevedise plays off once again following the successful signings of Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle last summer.
Schneiderlin has been at the centre of speculation for over a year now with Arsenal and Tottenham both showing heavy interest in the 25 year-old.
The Frenchman was forced to stay at St. Mary’s last summer following the exits of several of his team-mates but has knuckled down and been, once again, one of the Saints star performers this season.
Clasie’s arrival would only come about as a direct result of Schneiderlin deciding to leave after seven years at the club.
